Archive for June, 2012

As of Friday, June 8, 2012 I am officially on maternity leave.

Due to daycare, or more accurately a lack of daycare, I had to start my mat leave early. Thankfully the Canadian government allows women to start their mat leave 8 weeks prior to their due date so I will be able to start collecting my benefits right away.

I am looking forward to spending the next month and a half to two months off with Lincoln. It feels like I am on summer vacation and I love it.

I also feel like there are a million and one things that have to get done before the baby arrives but I also recognize that a lot of those things are not vital to welcoming our baby into the world and our home.

The most important item on our to-do list is to get Lincoln’s new room ready. The room is now cleared out thanks to my Mom and now it needs to be painted and new flooring put in place. We are already preparing him for the move downstairs and so far he seems excited about it – more on that once the move actually takes place.

I’m not running anymore but I’m staying as active as my ever-expanding body will allow me. This means a lot of walks with the dog and Lincoln by the river and some pre-natal yoga.

I really miss running though. My desire to get out for a run seems to increase every day, especially if I see someone out running, and I can’t wait until I can get back at it. I’m not trying to wish my life away or anything but there is definitely a void in my life that can only be filled by running.

For now I’m focusing on getting ready for baby, which means sorting clothes, washing diapers and donating a giant pile of stuff that has accumulated over the last three years – did I mention Lincoln turns 3 in a couple of weeks?!

I also started packing my hospital bag, which I’m trying not to take as a sign that something is going to happen soon 🙂

I’ll leave you now with a couple of pictures my good friend took a few weeks ago. These two are my favourite – thanks True Blue Photography!

And here I am today, at 32 weeks.

Time has flown by.
