1. Glenn has this thing where if any type of clothing, blanket, towel, etc. is on the floor then he needs to lay down on it. Lately, this means the girl’s tummy time area gets confiscated by him.

2. Andrew had to go fall some trees on the weekend on our way to town. Lincoln and I watched as he fell them but Linc was more than happy to help pile the wood.

3. The boys room is finally done, which means we can finally move the girl out of our room. Hers is still a work in progress but its coming along nicely.

4. We got crafty this week. I had visions of making ghosts but this is what the final result was.

5. Tummy time!

If you follow me on Instagram (user name: simmondsfam) then you’ve probably seen most of these pictures all ready. If you don’t follow me I’d love it if you did.

1. The local arena opened last week and we took Lincoln skating for the first time this year.

He had fun but I think he enjoyed watching his Dad play hockey afterwards more than anything.

2. I had a delicious frozen Mojito while I was in Kelowna for my race on the weekend. I have been craving one all summer. It was the perfect blend of sweet and sour.

3. I already wrote two posts about my 10K on Sunday but realize I never included a picture with either one.

4. A typical day for us includes checking the mail, playing at the park, checking out the fire trucks at my workplace, and then going to the store to grab milk, bread, or eggs (we always seem to be out of one of the above.)

The boys favourite part is always the park.

5. The Kettle Valley Rail Trail is one of our favourite places to walk because the dog doesn’t have to be on a leash. We usually have to stop and play on the trains behind the museum.

6. He didn’t actually climb the tree but he had fun hanging out in it.

Tell me something random about your week.

1. The girl is now two-months old and she has officially started smiling.

2. We don’t have cable or satellite so we recently signed-up for Netflix. We are currently obsessed with Breaking Bad.

3. If he wanted to Lincoln could attend play group (also known as Strong Start) everyday, Monday to Friday, in three different communities all within a 10 minute drive. This week we set out to just that and I’m not going to lie, I kind of felt like I was stalking the lady who runs the program.

4. Netflix has allowed me to catch up on the new 90210. Now I am rewatching the original series from the beginning. Dylan makes my heart melt.

5. Thursday marked my last run until my 10K on Sunday. I’m feeling great and can’t wait to have fun and kick some butt. If the weather this week has been any indication of what it will be like on race day then I better remember to pack my long sleeves. Start time is 8:15 am.

Tell me something random about your week.

1. Have you ever seen the reaction of a kid wearing a mask when they look in the mirror? It’s priceless. They then take a few minutes to lift up and put down the mask just to make sure they are still themselves. I’ve had this batman costume in the closet for a while now but it came out of hiding on Sunday.

2. Part of the Trans Canada Rail Trail runs through our small town. The local museum has an old train car that Lincoln likes to play on so we often make a stop on our walk to explore. Today we did a little workout using the old rail bed to run a circuit. I actually worked up a good sweat and the boy got to burn off some energy.

3. The river is really low now, which means there are plenty of opportunities to throw rocks into the river. The boy made sure we stopped during our walk on the river trail.

This picture is from last year. He has grown so much!

4. I had to run solo tonight because my friend is celebrating her son’s 17 birthday. I really pushed myself and my pace was a full minute faster than it has been. Score.

5. If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen me tweet the following: “Yes! Lets All Help End Childhood Obesity with #Saucony and #FitFluential. Let’s RUN. #Run4Good #FF4Good http://bit.ly/FF4Good

Saucony is trying to hit 10,000 miles run via this app by the end of the month (that’s this weekend) so they can raise $15,000 for charities that help the fight against childhood obesity. So what are you waiting for? Download the app and get running! And don’t forget to head to the FitFluential site to learn more and for your chance to win one of 30 pairs of Saucony running shoes!

1. We harvested our gardens last weekend. We have a garden at home and then a couple of plots at the Community Garden where we grew squash, onions, and cucumbers. We needed to use the Chariot to bring home all the squash.

At home I picked tomatoes, leeks, patty pan squash, and eggplant. We also have about a million hot pepper plants but I let Andrew pick those.

2. Lincoln started pre-school on Monday. It’s only one day a week but he loves it, and I love the few hours of “alone” time. Teagan is great company.

3. We have gotten lazy about taking pictures with our real camera ever since we got our iPhones. It’s so much easier and more convenient to snap a picture with the phone and then instantly send it to someone via text, email, facebook, twitter, etc. But I’m trying to be better about taking pictures again and this is one of my recent favourites.

4. Jason Mraz, live in concert, Friday night, Vancouver. Oh yes! I. am. excited.

5. A big Happy 33 Birthday to my wonderful husband! I’m going to the concert without him. His present is a night with his two kids 🙂

He is the best husband and father a girl could ask for.

Don’t be fooled by the picture though.

He’s not really a cowboy.

But he likes to dress the part for special occasions.

Happy weekend!

1. I baked muffins the other day because I was cold. Our furnace isn’t turned on yet and using the oven was the only way to get the chill out of the house. The pumpkin chocolate chip walnut muffins I made were an added bonus.

2. Lincoln has been requesting a bath once, sometimes twice, a day all week. Bath time always turns into coffee time. Lincoln is a most excellent host.

3. Teagan is very sensitive to caffeine to the point where if I eat too much chocolate she is affected. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I was stoked to find this bag of decaf hidden in the pantry.

4. I have been hoarding this jar of pumpkin butter from Trader Joes for almost a year. I opened it the other day and it is now only half full. Looks like the family needs to go on a trip to Spokane, WA soon.

5. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that I love the band Sloan. Unfortunately I seem to have failed in my fan duties because they played at a winery less than an hour from where we live and I didn’t know until after the fact. *sigh*

6. Second row seats for Jason Mraz next week will more than make up for number 5.

Back when I was following a training plan rest days always fell on Friday, and with it began Rest Day Randoms.

I’m still not following a set schedule but am going to bring back RDR on Fridays because it’s fun and I can write about random things without devoting an entire post to them.

So without further adieu let’s get this party started.

1. My husband sings this song frequently throughout the day when he is holding Teagan. Actually, that’s a lie. He sings one line of this song when he is holding Teagan. Fast forward to 1:05 to hear that line.

2. I sing this song whenever we are checking out the latest deals on The Clymb. Again, that’s a lie. I only sing three words of this song. Fast forward to 1:07 to hear those words. As a side note, if you’d like an invite to The Clymb let me know – there are great deals to be had.

3. We use songs frequently mid-conversation just for fun when something the other person says reminds us of a particular song lyric. Please note that the actual lyrics are often replaced with other made-up ones. For example, the song lyrics “Walkin’ on sunshine” are often replaced with “Walkin’ on eggshells” when I’m in a bad mood 🙂

4. I put a load of laundry in the washing machine on Tuesday. One wash cycle and two extra rinse cycles later I finally hung it on the clothes line Thursday afternoon. There’s no telling when it will get taken off the line.

5. Glenn celebrated his eighth birthday on Wednesday.

Happy birthday Jay Glenno!

6. Our nightly walks are turning into walking tours of the parks in Midway. There are only two but we always have to go to both.

Going up the slide is way more fun than going down the slide.

Have a great weekend!
