This running at lunch thing is definitely working out for me. It’s only been a few times but it sure beats what I used to do on my lunch break: catch up on TV and snack too much.
Except now I am way behind on my shows.
Lucky for me my husband started playing hockey on Friday nights so now that is my TV night š
The weather has been typical for this time of year.
My Monday run looked like this:
The river was frozen and the trail was covered in snow.
Enough people had been on the trail though for it to be packed down enough that I wasn’t breaking trail. But there was still a fresh dusting of snow that made it feel extra adventureous.
I actually really enjoy running in the snow. In addition to the Yak Trax (which I highly recommend) I also don’t leave the house without these when it is cold outside:
When I was first given these gloves at the expo for the BMO Okanagan Marathon I thought to myself “There is no way I will ever use these.”
But I took them anyways and I haven’t regretted it since.
The best part is they were free.
Except I didn’t need them today because today’s run looked like this:
The snow is gone, it was 11 degrees C and lightly raining.
I did get a lot more sweaty today.
But I’m confident the snow will be back soon and I’ll have this for a background again.
I ran another 3 miles today and happy I can leave the treadmill for someone else for the time being.
Wow… how do you find the motivation to run in the snow like that? I’m a total baby when it comes to being outside in the winter.
Either way, that’s awesome girl!
I think it comes down to the fact that I am more motivated to run in the snow than I am to run in the dark (and snow!). Plus, it’s way easier to leave my office at noon than to leave my couch in the evening š
Up until last night, we didn’t have any snow. This morning, there’s over a foot of the white stuff. Bah. I hate running outside in the cold!
I was actually just thinking about what will happen once real winter hits. Right now we are in what I call pre-winter where it’s still mild enough to not have to bundle up but cold enough to snow. We’ll see where my motivation is come January and February!
We have not had snow here yet, and I am so afraid to run in it! It might be treadmill time for me this winter…you are hardcore for making it out there in that.
And I so wish I could run at lunchtime, but there is no shower in my work building so I would be a big shweaty mess when I got back š
Running in the snow is not as bad as I thought it would be, really, I promise. It may have something to do with the fact that I actually like winter but we’ll see what happens in January/February when the temperature really drops! I am lucky that my co-workers do not mind if I forego a shower – as long as I put on a little deorderant! I did think the other day though that I should invest in some of that dry shampoo to help with the hair š
